A brain of LCN-based intelligent home
Archived post from 2012, recovered from my old blog. The technology described here is probably out of date. Original at the Internet Archive.
Some time ago I wrote about decision to choose LCN system as a foundation for my intelligent house. The LCN alone although rock solid does not provide many features modern building automation is expected to offer. The company from my home country DOMIQ delivers products which not only fill a gap between LCN network and other automation systems but also put automation integration into a completely new level.
Their flagship product DOMIQ Base is a powerful, flexible yet easy to configure central controller for an intelligent building. In conjunction with a user friendly DOMIQ Remoteapplication it enables iPhone and iPad users to monitor and manage the whole installation from literally any place in the world. A wall-mounted LCD touch panel provides an overview of current building status by unlimited configurable screens.

DOMIQ Base together with its extension products allows seamless integration of LCN network with security systems, other automation standards like MODBUS, DMX-512, audio-video systems, even those not directly supported.
DOMIQ base offers a web-based configuration toolwhich makes designing screens for DOMIQ Panel and DOMIQ Remote an easy task. A picture with a house projection can be easily uploaded and used as a background with any number of different widgets, including lights, command buttons, value indicators etc, on top of it.
In addition it is possible to define any number of actions triggered in specified time intervals or as an reaction on any event when a specified condition is met. A trivial example is turning on a light for one minute every time a specific security motion detector is triggered between 8pm and 6am. Possibilities are just endless.
I cannot wait for Android version of DOMIQ Remote…. ;)
